D-37130 CAIRNGAN ST. EDMUND LOM

(*Scole Flying Scotsman x Cairngan Eluned)

CAIRNGAN ST. EDMUND LOM (*Scole Flying Scotsman x Cairngan Eluned) was foaled in 1996, bred by Jean Robocker in Kalispell, Montana.  He was purchased in 1997 by the Gearhart family.  Richard grew up with Section A and B Welsh ponies, but "Ed" was the beginning of a long-time goal to breed Section D Welsh Cobs.  It was hard to imagine just how much of that dream would be realized after driving 27 hours and picking up the fuzzy little cob colt from a snow covered pasture in Montana.

Ed quickly acclimated to the California weather and began his show career.  A career that would take him around most of the western U.S. and as far east as Oklahoma.  He won many Supreme and Reserve Supreme championships and ultimately competed in English pleasure, Western pleasure, pleasure driving and carriage driving, winning championships in every division.

At the 2002 Western Nationals in California, Ed was driven out of the arena after the pleasure driving division with the announcement that he'd earned enough points for his LOM.  All of this at only 6 years old!

Ed also began a combined driving career and spent part of 2002 competing at the advanced level.  While he will still show up at some Welsh shows in the future, much of his time will now be spent further developing his combined driving talent.  Many more cobs have been added to the herd since the dream began in 1997 but there will always be a special place in our hearts for the one who started it all.
