    DRAGONCROFT WELSHMAN (Meadowlawn Squire X Penrhyn Southern Belle) is owned by Sabra and Monty Schiller. June 23,1993 was a lovely day at DragonCroft Farm, in the hills of Tennessee. Going down to check on the broodmares, we were met at the gate by a very bold chestnut roan colt. His dam was nowhere around. Calling Belle, his dam, she came at full gallop about 5 minutes later.

    Welshman was shown lightly as a yearling and a 2-year-old, placing champion or reserve champion Section A colt every time out. With other ponies to show, he was turned out. At the age of six, we brought him back out, after seeing him extend his trot across the pasture. Since driving is how we show our ponies, we had Steve Quaid finish his training.

    Thanks to Margaret and John Almond, the past 2 years, Welshman has been showing on the East Coast. Welshman’s performance was in the driving ring showing in pleasure, carriage and draft driving. Sabra showed him in all but five of his driving classes, John Almond showed him in three and Margaret Almond showed him in two. He amassed over 1500 points in these 2 years.

    Welshman is a true Welsh Mountain Pony with his great conformation, lovely pony head and his spectacular way of going. His extended trot will take your breath away.
