*EYARTH DEE

2002 Individual Legion of Merit

*EYARTH DEE (Carwed Charmer x Eyarth Gemma). Our annual trip to the UK in 1998 proved to be a fruitful one. Joining up with Richard Miller and Merion Davies, we traveled to northern Wales for a tour of Eyarth Stud. We were welcomed by Jessie Parry Williamson and her son.

There were many wonderful youngsters to look at, and the choice proved difficult. In the end, we picked a weanling chestnut filly named Dee. She seemed very athletic and friendly in the field with her "Mum." Her sire was Carwed Charmer and his mother Eyarth Gemma whose father was the famous Keston Royal Occasion. What better bloodlines could we ask for?

Dee was flown to the US that Fall, and joined the other ponies at Clarwood Farm. As a yearling, Dee was shown in-hand and did very well. The following year she was National Reserve Champion Sec. B filly. She did the same as a three year old, but was also shown under saddle. She won National Reserve Champion Sec. B mare.

In 2002, Dee expanded her repertoire and was shown both under saddle and over fences where she finished 3rd in both adult pleasure and Hunter 12.2 to 14.2. All these awards contributed to her reaching her LOM.

We are thankful to Heather Smullen who broke Dee under saddle and over fences and also Christie Feoli (junior division) and Susan Degenhart (adult division). We hope Dee’s success continues this next show season. She is spending the winter working hard with Peggy Marshall (PM Ponies) and William Bowling.
