LOM/AOE (Colby): A 2001 mare out of K.D’s Silver
Lining, Colby was born at Farmore Farms, the first crop by *Telynau Royal
Charter in the US. From that crop, Colby was the only one not to sell. She then
became part of the Farmore Farms show string. She was brought out once as a
yearling and won. She grew well at age two and was entered at her first show.
Unfortunately, before the show, Colby decided she was boss of the feed trough and chased another pony. Its retaliating kick broke her jaw. Sporting her swollen jaw, she attended the show. She did not win that time, nor the next or the next.
Colby was started under saddle her three year old year. English or Western, she loved them both and she started winning. Halter was a different story. As Colby’s performance points racked up, halter points were painfully slow.
Colby finally matured at age five. Her broken jaw had calcified and, she started to win in hand. She made her debut into the adult division and continued to be a force under saddle. Performance points came easily and halter points were accumulating quickly now as a mature mare. She earned her LOM that year (2006) with 500 halter points and nearly 2000 performance points. It was decided to show another year and give it our best shot at the AOE. Colby did not disappoint us. She earned the required 4000 points before the year’s end; and, like her sire, earned her AOE.
We are so very proud of the filly that no one wanted. She will now be retired with her Award of Excellence and will stay home and produce the next Farmore Farms show string. Well, the ones that aren’t sold anyway!
