*FINDELN MISS MUFFET

2004 Dam Legion of Merit

            *FINDELN MISS MUFFET (Brockwell Spider x Catherston Blue Gown) , foaled in 1965,  was foaled before any other winner of a Dam Legion of Merit. She was foaled forty years ago! Bred by Nancy Benitz (later Bedford), Miss Muffet belonged to Molly Butler, GlanNant, most of her life. Except for GlanNant Be Nimble, all twelve of Muffy’s foals were sired by Cusop Sheriff. 

            Three of her last four foals won the Dam Legion of Merit for her. GlanNant First Star, foaled in 1985, is still Linda Butler’s favorite mount. She won 570 points. GlanNant Banbury Cross, foaled in 1984, contributed 1081 of the necessary 1500 points towards Muffy’s Legion of Merit. Most of her points came in performance divisions. 

            At the age of 22, GlanNant Dock, owned by Pam Eber, won a double Supreme in hand in 2004 to make the third leg of her award and the fifth for his sire who is also receiving a Legion of Merit Award this year.  In all, Dock contributed 343 points.

            It is not often that an animal wins an award forty years after her birth and we are happy to honor this great producer of yesterday.
