GAYFIELDS CALL THE LAWYER
2000 Individual Legion of Merit
GAYFIELDS CALL THE LAWYER started showing as a weanling and was successful through her Junior years. At three she lost her place in the trailer to other ponies who could go into performance as well as breeding classes. Finally, in 1997, at age five, it was decided to pull her out of the pasture and return her to the show ring for the last show of the season, which was in Georgia. Under protest based on her lack of show condition, Ron and Sue Schwartz brought her down.
Ron took her in the ring and came out with double Supreme honors and a new partnership was born. "Miss Lucy" quickly became a real prima donna, insisting on all kinds of special attention.
Altogether Call The Lawyer, affectionately known as "Lucy", has won 1601 points in breeding divisions and 526 in performance for a total of 2127. She has won 16 Supreme of Show titles and was Reserve Supreme at the 2000 American National Show. At the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto she has been Champion of Champions and Supreme Champion for the past two years. She has won the Stonecroft Breeders Award twice for Gayfields. Perhaps the greatest compliment that Call The Lawyer has received came from Mr. Bleddyn Pugh, noted Judge from Wales, when awarding her Champion of Champions title last fall in Toronto. "Imagine", he said, "I had to come all the way across the ocean to see a Section B move like that!" She is always prepared for the show ring by Sue Schwartz and lives in her barn in Ohio.
Call The Lawyer’s performance points have come from Adult Western and English Pleasure classes where she is ridden by Ron. Foaled in 1992, Gayfields Call The Lawyer is by Legion of Merit, Award of Excellence and Order of the Dragon winner *Sleight of Hand. Her dam, Dixie Blue Duchess, is also a Legion of Merit winner. One brother, Gayfields Call The Cops, has received his Legion of Merit and another brother, Gayfields Court Scandal, lacks less than 100 points for his.
Someday soon Gayfields Call The Lawyer will retire to Arkansas and join the brood mare band. Perhaps she will be in brood mare classes in the future or become a stay-at-home mom while her colts and fillies make their own marks on show ring history.
