GAYFIELDS MAGIC WANDA
2000 Individual Legion of Merit
GAYFIELDS MAGIC WANDA comes from a Legion of Merit family. Her sire, *Sleight of Hand, has his Sire Legion of Merit and her dam, Peppermints Miss Muffitt, has been awarded a Dam Legion of Merit. Wanda was foaled in 1986 in Hughes, Arkansas, on the renowned Gayfields Welsh Pony Farm and was bred by Joe and Gail Morris. Born of two Champions, her destiny was evident.
Wanda was purchased by Ron Schwartz in 1988 and put to work as an important part of his driving program. She was shown single, in the team, tandem, unicorn and in the four pony hitch. Not only was she a dynamic single cart pony, but she played a main part in his hitch as a strong big-hearted wheel pony. During her show career, she received Championship and Reserve Championship honors in halter and performance. She was shown in Pleasure Driving classes as well as draft classes and was often driven by Sue Schwartz. Those who know "Wicked Wanda", as she is sometimes called, know her motto was always "when the going gets tough, the tough get going". She never backed down from anything!
Wanda retired in 1997 due to health reasons with 1952 points, but still lacking 43 breeding points for her Legion of Merit. With only a few appearances back in the show ring in 1999 and 2000 she received 60 halter points to achieve her Legion of Merit in 2000 with a total of 2012 points.
