GAYFIELDS PISTOL PACKIN’ MAMA

2002 Individual Legion of Merit

GAYFIELDS PISTOL PACKIN’ MAMA is the product of two Legion of Merit winners: her sire, *Sleight of Hand, also has his Award of Excellence and his Order of the Dragon and her dam is Gayfields Old Glory LOM.

Although Pistol believes she is six feet tall and bullet-proof, she is the youngest animal to win a Legion of Merit in any Section or category. She was four years, nine weeks and a day old when the last performance point was won!

Pistol’s performance points have been won in English and Western pleasure, ridden by Ron Schwartz in the adult classes and Lesley Schuster in the junior division. Many of her breeding points came from her Jr. years…by the time her two year old year was over she had won 25 Jr. Champion Filly ribbons, 6 Grand Champion Sec. B titles and 3 Supremes, in addition to many Reserves, all won at the larger gold shows. She was Reserve Champion Mare at the Royal Winter Fair as a weanling! Pistol Packin’ Mama was Jr. Champion of the Central Nationals as a foal, National High Score Jr. Champion B Filly as a yearling and again as a two-year-old.

After four years with Sue Schwartz, where she was surely the Princess of all she surveyed, she is at home in Arkansas now, running out with the other fillies. Sue turned her out to perfection throughout her show career. Ron and Arthur showed her. Gail polished the brass.
