GLANNANT TANGO

1998 Sire Legion of Merit

GLANNANT TANGO (*Cusop Sheriff x Duntulm's Two Step), owned by the Gillett family of RosMel was born April 26, 1966 at GlanNant Farm, Ithaca, New York.  Big, bold and beautiful, he was loaded with the performance genes of his illustrious ancestors and his long and prolific career at stud has withstood the test of time.  Tango's foals have exhibited dense bone, large size, good attitudes, wonderful bodies, extreme movement and trainable natures.

Sired by top performance stallion *Cusop Sheriff and out of black Duntlum's Two Step, a daughter of *Coed Coch Ballog, Tango carries a good percentage of Criban Victor blood, five times National Champion in Wales.  Tango began his breeding career at Westrum's Welsh Ponies in North Dakota and produced numerous daughters including Champion Westrum's Bay Beauty.  In the early 70's Larry Gates, Open Gate Pony Farm, Shreveport, La, purchased a large group of Tango daughters from the Westrum's.  These daughters figure in pedigrees in many farms across the country.

In the fall of 1975 Tango was purchased by Bristol Pony Farm and brought to Texas.  He was the first "big" B at Bristol and became a pillar of the breeding program there.  While at Bristol he was trained and shown, winning in English and Western Pleasure.  In 1976 Tango was WPCSA High Score National Champion Sec. B stallion.  In 1981 he was purchased by RosMel Pony Farm where he has produced numerous champions in all disciplines.  He was the foundation Sec. B stallion at RosMel and two sons and eight daughters have been retained to carry on Tango's legacy. The ponies contributing to Tango's Sire Legion of Merit are RosMel's Sun Promenade (480 points), RosMel Cotillion (486 points), RosMel's Raphael (599 points), Bristol Salome (376 points) and Buandwrs Lightening (300 points).  These points were won in hunter, pleasure driving, English and Western pleasure and breeding classes.  Tango has a total of 3456 points and has sired 106 offspring.  We at RosMel Pony Farm feel very fortunate to have had the influence of this wonderful stallion in our breeding program.  At the age of 33 Tango is in good health and is enjoying his retirement.
