(Okeden Taffy x Okeden Honeysuckle)
Jackie Verkuyl writes ... GOLDHILLS HANKY PANKY
LOM/AOE was born
on September 19, 2001, which happened to fall on the our wedding anniversary. Hanky Panky’s story actually begins in 2000; after producing a lovely filly by
Okeden Taffy in 2000, Okeden Honeysuckle, was sent to an outside stallion.
Honeysuckle was finally untrasounded in foal - complete with the picture to
prove it. Safely in foal, Honeysuckle came home and was turned out with Taffy
and the other cob mares. Fast-forward to 2001 and Honeysuckle foaled about a
month later than expected. On a whim, a DNA test was performed and surprise, the
sire of Honeysuckle’s filly was Taffy! Thus, the name Hanky Panky instead of
Happy Anniversary!
Hanky Panky was introduced to the show world as a yearling, and to say she has been successful would be an understatement. Hanky Panky was National Champion D filly in both 2002 and 2003. Moving out of the junior ranks and starting a performance career in 2004 Hanky Panky continued to excel, bringing home two National Championships – one for Section D Mares, and one for C/D Pleasure Driving. In 2005, Hanky Panky learned that cantering was ok and had a great first year showing under saddle. In 2005 Hanky Panky again won the National Championship for D Mares, along with tying for C/D Adult English Pleasure, and reserve Carriage Driving. When Hanky Panky completed the requirements for her Individual Legion of Merit in July 2005, she had not yet reached her 4th birthday, making her the youngest Welsh pony or cob ever to be so honored! In 2006 Hanky Panky continued her show career and for the fifth year in a row was National Champion in hand. She also took home the National Championship in Carriage Driving after a brilliant performance at the American National show where she won both the C/D Pleasure Driving and Carriage Driving divisions. Hanky Panky was supposed to be on maternity leave during 2007, but with her good nature and her good natured foal she was back out in the show ring with a 7 week old foal along for the ride. By the time July 2007 rolled around Hanky Panky had done it again – she completed her individual Award of Excellence, the first Cob to ever reach that mark! Hanky Panky continued to have a good year in 2007 and ended the year as National Champion D Mare for the fourth consecutive year, in addition to earning a second National Championship for C/D Pleasure Driving. All in all, Hanky Panky ends 2007 with 10 National Championship titles to her name and more WPCSA points than any other Welsh Cob to date.
