K.D.’s Silver Lining LOM

(Talybont Quicksilver LOM x Mary’s Lalique)

Tammy Burgin writes...K.D.’s Silver Lining.  Sired by the late Talybont Quicksilver LOM, K.D’s Silver Lining, we believe is one of "Quicky’s" best.  A very young Katie Davin (hence the K.D.’s prefix) bred her mare Mary’s Lalique to Talybont Quicksilver in 1987, with the hopes of producing a foal to raise herself.   Tammy and Linda Burgin visited Katie’s filly when she was a yearling, and it was decided to bring her home to Farmore Farms.  Her show career started that year and continued for several years including performance, and even showing under saddle with a foal at side (with the foal standing outside the ring, of course.)  She was Reserve Supreme at the 1997 WPCSA Western National Welsh show after winning the mare class, Champion Mare and Grand Champion Sec B (both judges) over the stallions.  "Whisper" (her barn name) was always part of the winning group for the Get of Sire classes for Talybont Quicksilver, helping her sire win many year end awards, including his WPCSA Sire Legion of Merit award in 2001.  Talybont Quicksilver was quickly becoming a broodmare sire of note, and his beautiful daughter K.D’s Silver Lining was no exception.   Her first foal sired by Farmore Publicity, the colt Farmore Spellbound, moved from the Welsh world to the sport of eventing and is considered the "wonder pony" at these competitions at only 12.3 hands, as he easily does the 3 foot divisions with an adult rider, as well as handling his stud duties at home.  Whisper’s first daughter by *Telynau Royal Charter, Farmore Royal Heiress, achieved her WPCSA Individual LOM at age 5, contributing most of the points (2,614) to Whisper’s Dam LOM, with her full brother Farmore Royal Heir completing the requirements.  In 2003, Whisper had been bred back to *Telynau Royal Charter, and then was leased to the Helm family for their daughter Rebecca.  After a few months, they decided to purchase Whisper and she foaled on Rebecca ‘s 6th birthday with her new owner’s family in attendance.  The resulting foal, Farmore Royal Heirloom, was purchased by Farmore Farms and will begin his show career in 2007.  Whisper is currently retired from broodmare duties but continues to teach children of all ages the joys of riding. She truly deserves her Dam Legion of Merit, as she is one very special mare.
