LAND'S END CONCERTO
1999 Individual Legion of Merit
LAND'S END CONCERTO (*Carolinas Red Fox x * Llanarth Rhapsody) is owned by Sally Steinmetz. She was bred by Nancy Reed of Land's End Farm and was foaled in 1993. Her sire is the legendary imported Section B, Carolinas Red Fox, sire of numerous top ponies and a national champion himself. Her dam, Llanarth Rhapsody, is also imported and is by the well known Section B stallion in Wales, Twyford Signal.
Sally first saw Concerto as a foal in the spring of 1993. Her friends from Snowfields Stud, Bonnie Tipton and Linda Trott, brought a mare to be bred to Red Fox and she accompanied them. After a tour of the farm and all of the lovely ponies, Sally still remembers saying on the way home that the roan filly was, by far, her favorite. "She was absolutely exquisite with the most adorable dished head I'd ever seen. At that point, I never dreamed I would own her. Almost a year later, we had a Penn-Marydel meeting at Land's End Farm. As we were sitting on the front porch overlooking a large paddock with the Chester River in the background, I saw the roan filly trot across the field with her breath-taking movement. It was at that point that I knew I wanted to purchase her and I'm forever grateful to Nancy Jane for parting with her".
Mosey (as she is called) was shown on the line as a junior filly and was national champion as a two-year-old. Many friends beside Sally have shown Mosey in hand including John Almond, Guy Clardy, Susan Degenhart, Pam McGlynn and Bonnie Tipton. She continued her winning ways and won another national championship in the competitive B Mare division the following year. Her performance points were garnered in the pleasure and hunter divisions. Her owner rode her in the adult classes while Christie Feoli did a great job of riding her in the junior classes under the guidance of trainer Susan Degenhart. Christie also taught her to jump and won numerous championships in the hunter division in 1999. Besides all of her Championships and Supremes with the WPCSA, Mosey also won two AHSA Zone championships. The plans for Mosey's future include becoming a broodmare, so watch for her offspring in the new millennium.
