LAND'S End Wind Chime
2000 Individual Half-Welsh Award of Honour

LAND'S End Wind Chime completed requirements for an Individual Award of Honour during the show season of 2000. Foaled in 1994, he is by the imported section B stallion *Carolinas Red Fox and out of a thoroughbred mare, Wild Embrace. Christie Feoli, Wind Chime's owner and rider recounts, I'll never forget the first time I saw Wind Chime. We had just sold my small pony, Christie's Bugle Boy, and were looking for a large. My Mom called Nancy Jane Reed at Land's End Farm to see if she had anything suitable. She told us she had a two year old half welsh large pony that we should look at. We drove down to Maryland and as we approached the barn, the most beautiful chestnut pony popped his head out of his stall. I hoped that this was the pony we had come to see and it turned out it was! He came home with us that same day over four years ago and we've been together ever since."
Chime's show career so far has been quite impressive. He began his performance career as a three year old in the half-Welsh pleasure division. He was WPCSA national champion that year and every year since then. As a four year old, he also started campaigning in the half-Welsh Hunter division. Again, he captured the national half-Welsh hunter award each year for the past three years. The year 2000 was no exception in his winning ways and besides being national champion in pleasure and hunter, he also captured the half-Welsh gelding award. Chime and Christie spent the last year training with Sharyn Cole of Hidden River Farm. They competed in the green pony division and won numerous championships and reserves. The pair ended up 3rd place in the competitive AHSA Zone 2 Large Green Pony Hunter high score awards.
Christie says, "Wind Chime is the sweetest, most wonderful pony I have ever owned. I wish I could have him grow about six more inches and I would have my perfect junior hunter horse!"
Christie would also like to thank Susan Degenhart, her trainer at the Welsh shows. Besides training the pair, she did a terrific job showing him in hand and braiding his mane and tail. Continue to watch Chime and Christie as they compete in the upcoming show season.
