H5906 LAND’S END CHA CHA LOM
(*Carolinas Red Fox LOM x Fleet Dancer)

Jean Greenlee writes of LAND’S END CHA CHA LOM (*Carolinas Red Fox LOM x Fleet Dancer) ... Instinct. That was the overriding sense that I felt that cold February afternoon watching this beautiful animal streaking across Nancy Jane Reed’s field. My instinct told me she needed to come home with us. When I loaded her on the trailer and consoled the teary-eyed gentleman who had been her loving caretaker, assuring him that she was in good hands, I had the sense then that Cha Cha was going to be a very special addition to our lives.
It has been an enormously rewarding six years. She arrived as a five-year old wild child: mane a foot long, unbroken and concerned about life. In these six years she has become a teacher both of riding and of patience, a source of pride and amazement, and--a friend. My daughter, Maddie, has learned valuable life skills from this mare and they have grown together in character and ability.
Cha Cha’s journey to Locust Grove Farm that February day in 2002 was the right one: for her and for Maddie. Their consistent wins have certainly been an affirmation of this pony’s enormous talent and beauty and a source of great pride. She has been an inspiration to turn out and has loved every stroke of the brush. However, the remarkable partnership that developed between pony and rider over the course of the years is what this Award Of Honour celebrates. It has been indeed an "honour" to be a part of Cha Cha’s life.
