LAND'S END WIND CHIME
2003 Half-Welsh Award of Distinction

Land’s End Wind Chime by *Carolinas Red Fox and out of a thoroughbred mare has been a part of our family for the past eight years. We purchased ‘Chime’ from Nancy Jane Reed of Land’s End Farm as a two year old. At the time Christie had just sold her small pony, Christie’s Bugle Boy, and was ready for a new challenge. The instant we drove in to Land’s End Farm and saw that beautiful face looking out at us from his stall, we knew Chime was the one for us. Chime and Christie started out their 1997 show career as WPCSA National Champions in the half-Welsh pleasure division. From 1998 through the 2002, the pair were WPCSA Champion in both the pleasure and hunter divisions. In 2000, Wind Chime was shown in the AHSA large green pony hunter division and was awarded numerous championships. Chime also showed very successfully in hand with Christie and in 2000 Land’s End Wind Chime received his individual Award of Honor from the WPCSA. In 2002 while Christie divided her time between the Welsh and her newly purchased thoroughbred horse, Young Lord, she decided it was time to pass Chime down to her younger sister, Taylor, and Chime began his new career as a walk-trot pony. Taylor and ‘Whinny’ as Taylor likes to call him won many blue ribbons together. 2003 brought many new changes and challenges to our family’s lives. Christie, now 18, showed her horse, Young Lord’ successfully in the jumper division. Taylor was given the opportunity to ride Rosehaven Tulip in the walk-trot division and with Christie out of the picture, Chime got to stay home for a lot of the shows. We did, however, make sure that Chime got the last of his 4000 points for the very prestigious privilege of being the first half-Welsh pony to receive his Award of Distinction with the help of Meg Gill who showed Chime in hand and in the pleasure division. Thank you Meg for helping Chile and us reach our goal this year.
