LISVANE LOTUS BLOSSOM
2002 Dam Legion of Merit
LISVANE LOTUS BLOSSOM was foaled in 1978 and bought by Ceulan Stud in 1985. To get her, Dr. Wynne Davies had to buy the entire Lisvane Stud of eight mares. She was the only one to be retained and never shown. She has produced fourteen foals, including Ceulan Lucy, 1992 Royal Welsh winner.
Only three ponies contributed points. They are all owned, imported and exhibited by Carol, David and Darci Maurer of Gaslight Farm in California.
*Ceulan Lorelei, by Trefaes Taran, has won many championships in halter and English, but is most renowned as a Western pony, combining obedience with a truly remarkable jog and lope. She won the Western Pleasure Adult Division at all three American Nationals she has attended and in 2000, carried Darci for the Year End award in Adult Western Equitation.
*Ceulan Lwcus, by Twyford Sprig, has shown on a limited basis, with championships in halter and performance, including multiple Supreme and Reserve Supreme.
*Ceulan Lydia, also by Twford Sprig, earned her share of the points in a little over one year of active showing, with four Grand, two Reserve Grand and two Reserve Supreme championships in 2002.
The Maurers have concentrated their efforts on the bloodlines represented by Twyford Sprig and Lisvane Lotus Blossom. Lorelei, Lwcus and Lydia have demonstrated her prepotency by their achievements. Lisvane Lotus Blossom can now take her place in American Welsh history as being the first pony or cob in a foreign country to earn a Legion of Merit, and she did it with the minimum number of produce necessary to be eligible for the award.
