*LLANARTH DARCY
2003 Individual Legion of Merit
*Llanarth Darcy (Sec. B stallion)by Twyford Signal and out of Elmeads Lockets, was foaled in 1997 at Llanarth Stud. Greenfields Farm purchased and imported Darcy from Len Bigley.
Twyford Signal’s impact on the Welsh breed around the world in undeniable. He was the Supreme In-Hand Champion at the Royal Show of Great Britain and qualified four consecutive years for the Horse of the Year in Wembley.
We always knew Darcy had big shoes to fill and he has earned his Legion of Merit with limited showing prior to 2003. He has successfully shown in hand, under saddle and with carriage for junior and adult handlers alike. He is an exceptionally gentle stallion who enjoys his time in the show ring and really shows off when John David and Emily Ball are at the lead.
His outstanding temperament is evident by his patience and caring when being shown by Emily. He even stands quietly as the young Susannah helps with grooming and tacking. When John David and Darcy enter the ring for carriage driving, you can see the stallion’s true confidence and spectacular movement. Our thanks also goes out to the riders who rode Darcy to wins in English Pleasure and Adult Hunter. Darcy had a truly versatile year with many championships to show for the Greenfields Farm team’s hard work.
Darcy is stamping his foals with his trademark powerful action, lovely conformation and fantastic trainability. His first crop of foals is coming three this year and we will enjoy watching them as they head for the show ring.
