MADOC BRONWYN
2002 Dam Legion of Merit
MADOC BRONWYN is owned by Miriam Williams Gerdes. Foaled in 1984, Madoc Bronwyn was bred by Mary Alice Williams and is an A/B cross by Madoc Final Flight and out of Duntlum’s Two Step.
She was shown in hand several times as a youngster and was offered for sale until Miriam decided to keep her for breeding Section B’s. She was trained to ride and used briefly in Madoc’s riding lesson program until she convinced the Madoc gang that this was not what she wanted to do in life.
Bronwyn has produced quality foals of every section and is the first Legion of Merit winner to have done so. Although Miriam had planned to use her to breed Section B’s, she has actually only had one Section B: Madoc Carbon Copy, by *Smoke Tree Bronze Image, who makes up one of her Legion of Merit "legs" showing in English, Western, Hunter, Trail & Dressage. Her 2nd "leg," Madoc Bayberry is a Section C by *Kentchurch Chime who won her points in Pleasure, Hunter and Short Stirrup. Bronwyn was less than 15 points shy of winning her Legion several years ago with Section C daughter, Madoc Coppertone Girl before Toni was sold to Connecticut where she now shows as a medium pony hunter on the "A" circuit. Bronwyn’s 3rd leg was finally completed in 2002 with another Section C daughter Madoc Rhossili Bay, whose points were won in English Pleasure and Hunter.
