2003 Individual Legion of Merit

    In 1995, after corresponding with Megastar's former owners, the Barbey's, our first time seeing him was at the '95 WPCSA American National Show in Pomona, California. I remember thinking he must be the consummate Welsh Cob, and those feelings were confirmed that day when he became the Supreme Champion - at age three.

    I couldn't have imagined how much this Proud young stallion's life would intertwine with mine, and how he would become such a big part of my life. Our first year together was one of growth, discovery, and learning to trust. I used trail obstacle work as a key to unlocking his brain and improving his attention span. In 2002, we began our first full show year together, amassing a list of successes, and continued to improve our performances. Toward the end of 2002, he had become the most consistent performer I had ever shown, proving it in the disciplines of English, Driving, Trail, and Dressage. In 2003, I decided to give us both a year off from showing, not realizing how close we were to achieving this award. We went to ONE show in 2003, where we earned the last points. We'll forever be grateful to the Barbey's for trusting us with this wonderful stallion, who has become so loved by us. This Award was a team effort by Megastar's two sets of American owners, each able to contribute to a skill set needed for this achievement . We are so proud he is honored with the "Legion of Merit".
