2002 Individual Legion of Merit

    MISTY MORNS VIVA LAS VEGAS was foaled in 1998, sired by Gayfields Glory Hallelujah out of Misty Morns Goldryn Mandy. Vegas was shown in-hand in his yearling and two-year-old year and then under saddle and in hand in his three and four-year-old years. Much of the credit for Vegas’s Accomplishments goes to Vegas’s "summer Mom", Lela Castellanos. Her patience, talent and soft hands were very instrumental in bringing Vegas to what he is today. There’s not too much you can say about a youngster but by the ripe "old age" of four, Vegas had already earned the following titles: WPCSA 4th Place in National standings for Section B Colts as a yearling; WPCSA National Champion Section B Gelding 2 & Under as a two-year-old; WPCSA National Champion Section B Gelding 3 & Over as a three-year-old; and WPCSA Reserve National Champion Section B Gelding 3 & Over as a four-year-old. Vegas was also Horse of the Year with USA Equestrian in the Welsh Pony Adult Pleasure Division.

    Vegas is an incredibly talented jumper and his forte in life will definitely be the jumpers. He was sold last fall and his new owners are amazed at this natural jumping ability as well as the power he exhibits when put to the big fences. They are very excited and Vegas is very happy popping around courses for some young equestrians.

    We miss him in the barn but as we all know, you can’t keep them all especially when you have quite a few "young un’s" waiting to be started.
