2005 SIRE LEGION OF MERIT

*OKEDEN TAFFY LOM

(Scole Morhys x Scole Sapphire)

*Okeden Taffy LOM was imported by Windcrest Stud as a yearling in 1984.  In 1991, Taffy made the journey to California and started showing on the West Coast.  Taffy had a very successful show career of his own until his retirement in 1998.  Taffy won many Supreme Championships, English & Western Championships and Hunter Championships.  Yet, Taffy’s greatest success has been as a sire.  Taffy’s get are typey, athletic cobs with trainable dispositions and to date they have won 11 National Championships, including in 2005 the National Champion D Filly, D Mare, D Colt and D Gelding.  The five foals making up the legs of Taffy’s Sire Legion of Merit are all out of the two mares, Okeden Honeysuckle and Okeden Britannia, both of whom were also imported as foundation mares for Windcrest Stud.  Earning the five “legs” are Goldhills Bit-O-Honey, Goldhills Hanky Panky, Goldhills Butter Rum, Goldhills High Tea and Goldhills Brandysnap.  Bit-O-Honey earned her points showing both in hand and in performance.  She is also an important member of the Knuckles family.  Hanky Panky completed her own legion of merit in 2005, earning points in hand, and in Pleasure and Carriage Driving and English and Western Pleasure.  Butter Rum completed his leg showing in hand, and has since gone on in performance and is now over half way to his own legion of merit with his owner Carrie Kirtlan.  High Tea and Brandysnap both completed their legs as two year olds showing in hand.  Taffy is now living happily with his mares, showing off his breathtaking trot on a regular basis!
