2005 DAM LEGION OF MERIT
*Okeden Honeysuckle LOM
(Llanarth Meredith ap Braint x Arth Maid of Honour)

*Okeden Honeysuckle LOM was imported by the Windcrest Stud as a foal, right after winning fourth at the Royal Welsh show. Honeysuckle produced the filly Windcrest Chloe, and then 3 colts in a row – Windcrest Dakkar, Windcrest Desert Storm, and Windcrest Devin. Each of these colts has gone on as a herd sire for their owners. Honeysuckle has not produced a colt since!
From 1996 to 2004 Honeysuckle produced 8 fillies. Three of these fillies, Goldhills Bit-O-Honey, Goldhills Hanky Panky and Goldhills High Tea, all sired by Okeden Taffy, each contributed a “leg” of Honeysuckle’s Legion of Merit. Bit-O-Honey was shown as a yearling, and at the last show of the year a freak accident stepping out of the trailer suffered a broken pelvis. Bit-O-Honey had earned enough points to end the year as Reserve National Champion, just two points behind the winner. Bit-O-Honey was laid off for several years and in 2004 started showing under saddle with her new owners. Hanky Panky took up where her older sister left off and went farther, faster, completing her own Individual Legion of Merit before she reached her 4th birthday. Hot Fudge followed in her sisters’ footsteps with a National Championship of her own, but has not quite reached the 300 point mark yet. High Tea has exceeded all of her sisters in the speed she earned her first 300 points, reaching the mark in just over a year, along with earning a National Championship of her own.
Several of Honeysuckle’s fillies have been retained at Goldhills Welsh to continue on her legacy.
