2003 Individual Legion of Merit

     OZARK LET'S ROCK  (Severn Sirocco LOM x Alra Jasmine)  Years ago, upon the death of our beloved stallion Severn Sirocco we decided to honor his memory by getting him a double Legion of Merit.  We leased and subsequently bought “Lettie” to accomplish this.  Lettie began her career as a driving pony as a four year old.  Her Daddy’s trot combined with her almost metronome like gaits soon propelled her into the winners circle.  She was National Driving Champion for 3 years starting in 2000. 

    We then decided to use Lettie in the leading rein class despite the fact that she was not officially broken to ride.  Much to our delight and again due to her daddy’s influence Lettie proved to be a wonderful leadline pony, taking care of children all over the nation as well as babysitting Rollingwoods future rider, Turner Davis.  We soon discovered that Lettie, while distrusting of adults, absolutely will walk through a lake of fire for a child.  She excelled in Pet pony obstacle winning with almost any child who was fortunate enough to hold the end of the lead.   

    Lettie is still going strong in the driving ring as an ambassador to the breed in open driving shows as well as Welsh shows.  As Turner’s second favorite pony she is assured a permanent home at Rollingwoods and will hopefully continue to enjoy leading rein and pet pony obstacle classes for many years to come.
