PEPPERMINT'S MISS MUFFITT
1997 Dam Legion of Merit
PEPPERMINT'S MISS MUFFITT (*Coed Coch Prydydd x Honor Pennant), was bred by Mary Ann LeBrocq and owned until her death in 1992 by Gayfields Welsh Ponies. Mary Ann bought her dam from Gayfields in 1972, bred her to Prydydd in 1973 with Muffy making her appearance the following spring. There followed a successful showring career in hand, under saddle and in pleasure driving as well as a stint at Tylwyth as a riding camp mount until personal and finally health problems prompted Mary Ann to give us a lease and then ownership of Miss Muffitt.
Her first foal, Gayfields Sally Bach was by Findeln Blue Danube, which didn't please Mary Ann as she wanted Muffy to make her mark as a Sec A broodmare. There followed leases to various A breeders in Texas and Louisiana since we had no A stallion for her. In between we bred her three times to our Sec B *Sleight of Hand and it has been these three, in the hands of three different owners, who have won this honor for Muffy. Gayfields Magic Wanda, owned by Sue Schwartz, contributed 1922 points, Gayfields Sleightly Miffed, owned by Robin and Don Nowak has won 566 and Carole and Louis Romano showed their Gayfields Good As Gold, with the help of Sally Ross Davis, to 569 points to finish Peppermint Miss Muffitt's Legion of Merit this year with a grand total of 3100 points.
