Princess Rosina
2003 Dam Legion of Merit

In 1991 Marvin Shelley and John Neeman from the Dallas area had a dispersal sale of their Welsh Cobs, among them a three year old filly named Princess Rosina who was by *Okeden Telynor and out of *Okeden Clover. Clover was the top priced animal in the sale and only eight hundred dollars added “Rosie” to Madoc’s herd. 14.1 hand Rosie was trained under saddle but her value was soon to be as a producer of outstanding performance cobs by *Kentchurch Chime LOM.
Each of her foals carries the name of a rose, the first being the outstanding 15.2 hand, Madoc Patriot. Patriot’s ability in dressage led him to compete in FEI Young Riders competition in 2003 with Sarah Christy, where afterwards he went to his new home with Beth Berman in New York. One after another the rose named cobs went into the performance world, mainly in dressage but also in combined training and combined driving, helping to create a demand for these talented offspring and other cobs.
Two dun mares, Madoc Fashion Rose owned and shown by 12 year old Laura Bish of Conroe, Texas and Madoc Artistry Rose owned and shown by the Sewell family of Benbrook, Texas, made up the additional cobs acquiring enough Welsh points to gain Rosie’s Legion of Merit. Rosie’s foals have truly been ambassadors for the Welsh Cob in the performance world beyond the
