ROLLINGWOODS COOKIE THIEF LOM/AOE
(JG Cops and Robbers x Rollingwoods Lorna Doone LOM/AOE/OD)

Sally Ross Davis writes...ROLLINGWOODS COOKIE THIEF LOM/AOE was special from the day he was born. Out of one of our most beloved broodmares, Rollingswoods Lorna Doone and by JG Cops and Robbers, he was bred to perform. Of course sometimes he doesn’t agree with that statement but that is another tale. When Lorna Doone had this bright yellow colt we knew that we could not leave him at home. He began his career in the halter ring quickly garnering accolades. During his first year out in 2001 he placed 3rd nationally, followed by Championships in 2002 and 2005 and Reserve Championships in 2004 and 2006. Although he sometimes can be a handful in the breed ring he has a certain presence which cannot be denied. All of our animals must have a purpose in life so we broke Thief to drive. He took to it naturally and soon was winning in driving as well. He was National Champion in Pleasure Driving 12:2 and over for the years 2004, 2005, and 2006. During 2005 we added Carriage Driving and although his steering is ever in need of tightening he seemed to really like the cones. Thief ended up Reserve Champion in Carriage Driving in 2004. If you are going to haul a pony with as much personality and mischievousness as Cookie Thief you had better keep him busy. During 2005 we added the Hunter and Western divisions as well as Trail to his repertoire of tricks. Although he is not as polished in those events as driving he is brave and honest and will not refuse a fence or an obstacle. He is a fun pony to ride and one must always stay on their toes when riding him. During this past year Thief has managed to both aggravate and endear himself to Sally Ross’s husband Roger Davis, and now Roger has become a true fan of the wonderful Welsh pony. Although we don’t have many offspring of Cookie Thief because he is so young we have been very pleased with him in the breeding shed. We hope to have many more years with this special colt and count it as a privilege to have owned him.
