ROLLINGWOODS LORNA DOONE

2002 Dam Legion of Merit

ROLLINGWOODS LORNA DOONE (*Sleight of Hand LOM, AOE & Order of the Dragon x Rollingwoods Chips Ahoy LOM) a 1988 Section B palomino is the first mare to have earned a Double Legion of Merit. "Lorna" was bred and is owned by Dr. Ruth and Joanna Wilburn and Sally Ross Davis of Rollingwoods Farm of Olive Branch, MS.

Lorna was the second pony to win an individual Legion of Merit. She was a seven year old with points in halter, hunter, English pleasure, Western pleasure, and pleasure, carriage, and draft driving. This was also done with time out to have an unplanned foal when she was a three year old! This accidental foal, a Section B palomino filly by Severn Sirocco (also a dual LOM winner) was named Rollingwoods Who Doone It. Doone It has her own Legion of Merit with points in almost every discipline, providing the first leg of Lorna’s Dam LOM.

The second leg was earned by Lorna’s second foal - Rollingwoods Catfish Cookies - a grey Section B mare by Findeln Marlin. She was sold as a youngster but leased back to Rollingwoods to earn her points in hunter, trail, English pleasure, and Western pleasure classes with both adult and junior riders. Lorna’s third foal - Rollingwoods Cookie Thief - a palomino colt by JG Cops and Robbers completed her third leg. Cookie Thief’s points were all earned in halter with him receiving Champion Section B Colt honors in 2002.Lorna will continue to reside at Rollingwoods where she is a valued broodmare as well as a much-loved mount for young rider Turner Davis.
