ROLLINGWOODS WHO DOONE IT

2003 Individual Award of Excellence

ROLLINGWOODS WHO DOONE IT (Severn Sirocco LOM x Rollingwoods Lorna Doone LOM)  Lorna Doone was sent to Ron Schwartz to break to drive. After Ron complained about the mare’s weight, Sue Schwartz discovered the reason for the real weight issue as she witnessed the birth of a beautiful palomino filly, hence the name Who Doone It.  Doone has excelled in all disciplines including Western, English Pleasure, Hunter, and Driving.  She has been ridden and shown by numerous children to this award and all have fallen in love with the little yellow pony.  Our eternal thanks go to these special children who helped her win this award.

Doone began her driving career as a two year old with Ron Schwartz at the whip.  After winning the novice class at Tulsa she then went to Rollingwoods where she was National Driving Champion for 1994-1996.  After that she was leased by Lauren Schuster who campaigned her in everything a Welsh pony can do which is considerable.  Unfortunately all children grow up, so in 2003 she was sent home to Rollingwoods to finish her career.  Nora Land soon discovered a partnership with Doone which included English and Western Pleasure as well as short stirrup hunter.  Our junior rider, Turner Davis, also contributed points in Leading Rein.  We were thrilled when Doone ended up as 2003 Champion in Leading Rein, Pleasure Driving 12’ 2” and under, Carriage Driving and Reserve Champion in Short Stirrup.

Doone has retired to the house where she spends the afternoons playing cowboys and Indians, Seabiscuit and any number of other games that Turner can devise.  She is patient and kind with him and has definitely earned a place in our hearts forever.  Her dad would definitely be proud of his girl.
