SYDENHAM NOCTURNE
2003 Sire Legion of Merit

In 1984, Marvin Shelley and John Neemann imported *Sydenham Nocturne, by Llanarth Flying Comet out of Sydenham Jonquil, from Wales to Texas. There he produced many offspring until being sold to Nancy Malone at absolute auction. Nocturne stayed in Texas except for a brief trip to New York where he was broke to drive.
Also during Nancy’s ownership he was leased to India Haynes in Maine where he produced more outstanding offspring. Although not shown in any Welsh Performance classes until 2000, he was virtually unbeatable in-hand in the 1990’s. In the year 2000, Don and Lynda Lewis of Lyndon Acres were afforded the incredible opportunity to purchase Nocturne, whom they had known and loved since the aforementioned auction in 1991.
Lynda began schooling Nocturne in dressage and rode in clinics with Sally O’Conner and J. Alex Wortmann, both of whom were highly impressed with Nocturne and the Cob breed he so well represents. In just the three years Nocturne has lived at Lyndon Acres, he has shown his brilliance by earning the WPCSA Reserve Championship in Adult English Pleasure Cob in 2001 and by winning his first Carriage Driving Turnout class in Houston (which includes Section A’s, B’s, C’s, D’s and half-Welsh), in 2003.
Although Nocturne is a stallion, his impeccable manners and temperament make him the favorite school horse of Lyndon Acres’ students! Don and Lynda wish to thank Nancy Malone for allowing them the honor of owning such a magnificent Cob stallion and express their appreciation to all of the owners of Nocturne’s offspring. Without them he would not have achieved the Sire Legion of Merit. 2004 brings Nocturne’s 20th birthday. He will stand at stud at Lyndon Acres and have a loving home there for as long as he shall live.
