Royal Charter (Eyarth Rio x Geufronuchaf Miss Royal)
came back into the show ring in the summer of 2004 to finish the points required
to achieve his Award of Excellence. After a wint
er
off, breeding mares and thinking he was done being on the road, we whisked
Charter off to four shows in Oregon, Washington, southern California and then
“home” to the American National. In four shows, he earned over 700 points, twice
what he needed to earn his AOE. This stallion has accumulated 1735 halter
points and 2613 performance points, for 4348 points total.
For those of you who do not know Charter, he came to the USA in fall 1999 having won 27 UK Supreme Championships, but he was not broke to ride. After 45 days under saddle, he was in the show ring winning English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Trail, Hunters and of course a lot more championships and Supremes in Halter. The point total grew: in 2001 he was awarded his individual Legion of Merit after only two full show seasons in the U.S. We continued to show him in 2002 and 2003, but then decided to start showing his foals on the circuit, and we let Charter stay home to breed mares. It never dawned on us he was so close to the coveted Award of Excellence. Charter is the only stallion to ever be awarded the Individual Award of Excellence, a true gentleman. Charter the over-achiever also has over 75 foals on the ground in the U.S., with the oldest at Farmore Farms coming 4 this year. Charter truly is one of a kind.
