B-25021 timbercreek blackberry LOM

(Lithgow Gay Grenadier x *Duntulm's Two Step)

Stacy West writes of TIMBERCREEK BLACKBERRY LOM ... We purchased the mare Timbercreek Blackberry at the age of 17, sight unseen as a mount for Ruth. Blackberry (Lithgow Gay Grenadier x Duntulm’s Two Step) had been Robyn Schmidt’s personal pony and then had been doing dressage when we acquired her. She was an excellent performance animal and was actually the pony that Sally Ross debuted in her first Welsh pony show in Tulsa, OK.

After Ruth quit riding Blackberry we bred her to Sleight of Hand. She produced the three legs of this Legion of Merit with him. The first foal was a filly Rollingwoods Sleightly Black. Sleightly Black was leased out for several years but has since returned to the farm and currently takes care of our future, Kelli West. She did such a good job with Kelli that she ended up Reserve National Champion in English Pleasure 12’ 2" and over with a third in junior hunt seat equitation and this is Kelli’s second year showing. The next foal was Rollingwoods Back in Black, a gelding who has excelled in English pleasure, hunters, and driving as well as the breed ring. Unfortunately, we lost Blackberry when she had her last colt who we appropriately named Rollingwoods Berry Last One. Berry has been a driving animal all his life and is currently competing in CDE’s with his trainer, Rob McCartney, and his navigator, Joanna Wilburn.

Although Blackberry only had three foals for Rollingwoods we are enjoying these foals very much. I don’t think you could talk Kelli into another mount or Joanna into not going on CDE’s . We have had a lot of fun with these animals and we are forever grateful to Nan Schmidt for breeding this fine mare.
